A jersey worn in 1998 by Michael Jordan, basketball legend, has been sold for $10.1 Million. This is the highest price for game-worn memorabilia.
The jersey also surpasses a autographed card that sold at $2.7 million as the most expensive Jordan item. Sotheby’s had anticipated a $5 million winning bid. However, 20 offers drove the price up to twice that amount.
Jordan wore the jersey while he was pursuing his sixth NBA championship with Chicago Bulls. The journey was documented in “The Last Dance,” a popular TV series. The 1998 Finals were viewed by the most people in history. It was the most-watched event in history. People around the world tuned in to see Jordan’s final game with Scottie Pippen (Dennis Rodman), Phil Jackson and Scottie Pippen (Dennis Rodman).
